.jp registration requirements (General-use JP Domain Name)

The .jp extension is open to any individual or organization with a permanent postal address in Japan (local presence required by the JPRS registry). If you do not have an address in Japan, please contact our support team: a local presence solution may be available.

Format: 3 to 63 ASCII characters; Japanese-character names (kanji, hiragana, katakana — IDN) from 1 to 15 characters.

Registration term: 1 to 10 years, renewable. First-come, first-served; disputes are governed by the JP-DRP policy (JPNIC).

.co.jp registration requirements

The .co.jp extension is restricted to companies incorporated and officially registered in Japan. Foreign companies are eligible if registered in Japan as a "Gaikoku Kaisha" (registered foreign company). Proof of registration may be required.

Registry rule: one .co.jp domain per company.

Registration term: 1 to 10 years, renewable. Disputes are governed by the JP-DRP policy (JPNIC).
